Re: PCB assembly discussion

If you intend to use the relay now is the time to fit this, remeber to remove that solder bridge across C6 or it won't switch: A black "Rayex Elec LEG-24" relay https://www.tme.eu/Document/311affc211749c2a4c93ad074af62b72/LEG-SERIES.pdf was supplied which does not fit the PCB (due to a ve...

Re: Adding GPS

Now this is interesting: http://doc.ntp.org/current-stable/drivers/driver20.html... Perhaps I should route the data to the USB too, so then the clock can act as a stratum 1 time source!!

Re: Adding GPS

It wasn't quite as ancient when I designed it :) Arrrrrrr..... Them's were the dayz, laddie! Any module with a NMEA serial TTL output between 2400 and 9600 bps will work so just about any on the market. Sensitivity and size will vary, I just recommended the SKM53 as I know it fits and works. I was ...

Re: Help!

In "3 - Clock PCB assembly" I have got to page 3 the first power-on test. It states: You should have a reading of a few mA which rapidly drops to less than 1mA as C5 charges. Initially I see about ~0.9mA dropping in about 5 seconds to ~0.6mA. I presume there is something wrong with my wor...

Re: Help!

On page 2 of "3 - Clock PCB assembly" [1], it says: Fit the mustard/beige resin dipped 22p (marked 220) capacitors x2 in locations marked for C7 and C8: **Batch2 kits will be marked 33 (not 333, note only 2 digits) I think I have a black batch 3 kit. The capacitors provided were marked &qu...

Re: Adding GPS

https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/uploads/articles/SKM53_Datasheet.pdf This is a pretty ancient piece of kit: the copyright is from 2010. Newer stuff should be more sensitive, smaller, use GLONASS, BEIDOU, etc.... I note that in the documentation, the SKM53: "The module default NMEA-0183 output...

Re: UK USB power supply for Batch2 PCBs

Apparently some (e.g. at least mine) batch 3 PCBs require the power cable to be directly wired to the motherboard. This would require feeding it through the end-cap & providing some form of knot in the cable to prevent the power cable being pulled & damaging the motherboard.

Re: PCB assembly discussion

I appear to have the batch 3 motherboards. I note that there is no USB socket on these, apparently. Nor can I find any instructions relating to soldering it on. Nor can I find a USB socket in the parts. Am I to presume that power now comes from the USB power cable which is now a captive lead that mu...
