Connect the board to your power supply again and repeat the current test. It should still be about 6mA. Check the voltage across the two diodes marked here: It should be about 2.5V, if not check for shorted tracks and solder bridges around the transistors. http://www.lasermad.com/instructions/DSCF52...

Repeat the powerup test you made earlier, the readings should be the same If not check for solder bridges. Take 1 Microcontroller from the component pile: http://www.lasermad.com/instructions/DSCF5208%20pic.jpg Fit it in the location marked here: Make sure the dot marking pin 1 is in the right place...

Cut 5 short pieces of wire for links. You could use the enamelled winding wire or strip the insulation from some single cored copper wire, anything up to about 0.75mm. or buy some brass or gold plated copper wire. I tried that on this board but think it looks overdone. Fit them in the locations mark...

Connect the board as indicated to a 12V power supply through a mA meter and switch on. The current should be around 4-6mA, if not check for solder bridges or track shorts. If the current is OK, check the voltage across the marked diode. It should be about 5V, if it's 12V you have probably mixed the ...
