I replaced BOTH 2R2 resistors. The Nixies do not work.
The voltage at the coil ends and all 2R2 and 6R8 resistors is 11-12V. What is the next step to troubleshoot the problem.

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
This was before the main board stopped working. as other pieces were glowing.
I replaced BOTH 2R2 resistors and now the voltage is 11-12V at All 2R2 and 6R8 resistors. The Nixie tubes however do not glow. What is the next step to troubleshoot?

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
I did not receive e-mail regards previous post about difficulty with display piece PCB. They are as follows
1] No power at the pins.
2] Almost no voltage can be measured across the capacitors.
Anything else I can do? Or just remove all components and start all over?

Re: Board PCB discussion
Here are some of the measurements on the Black Board: 1] Coils show 12V at all screw terminals 2] 2R2 Resistors: Left side of board shows about 12V on the lead away from the center and the lead towards center is 0V; The lead towards the center shows 0V and the lead away from the center is 12V [ Red ...

Re: Board PCB discussion
As a start I tried to measure voltages at the 2 coils that had been working. It is about 11.97V at the ends of each coil. The measurement was made by placing the RED probe on the Red power terminal and then the black probe was placed on the brass screws that hold the coils to the PC board. [ I have ...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
After a good run have had problems with recent Piece PCB Built. The current one was my fault as I placed one of the transistors and a capacitor in the wrong spot and had to remove them [using ChipQuick]. I replaced the components but something is not right. 1] No power at the pins. 2] Almost no volt...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
After checking the mounting pins I realised I had appropriate power. I then took a very fine probe and scraped thru all the grooves on the etched copper board. Also under the capacitors as best as I could. Then voila, the nixie started to glow. Must have been a short. Thanks again Tony.

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
I get 177V across the 2 pins. Next step - check the voltage across capacitors?

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
It is the copper engraved pcb. I had removed the enamel from the ends of the copper wire and checked continuity both before and after soldering the wires to the boards. When you say 50V across the capacitor How do I take the measurement? Do I p;ace the black lead of the voltmeter on the black pole w...

Re: Piece display PCB discussion
Tony on Jan 14 in a reply to a message by Sean you asked him to check the voltages across capacitors on the display board. Do I just use a voltmeter to check the voltage across the capacitor - while the display piece is sitting on a board coil that is powered up. What should the voltage be? I too ha...
