1 - Start here - Kit contents

Post by Tony »

Thank you for buying our IN12 clock kit

Assembly should not be too difficult for anyone with some soldering experience. Where possible components which look as dissimilar as possible have been used, such as for the various capacitors.

Please do take time to read through the instructions first before picking up your soldering iron.

Most of the photographs are reasonably compressed this time so I don't need to apologise to anyone trying to build this on dialup ;).

First of all, unpack and check the kit contents to make sure everything arrived intact. I've split the contents into seven separate packs as follows:

Image

Clockwise from the top left corner -

USB A to mini B cable
UK 5 Volt power supply - for other countries you'll need an international 'travel' socket adapter but not a voltage converter.
Nixies - 4x IN-12 (A or B) numeric nixies and 1x IN-15A symbol tube for the centre colon.
Static sensitive component bag (bag2)
Perspex cylinder
Case parts bag - these will need sanding and if required polishing before use
Misc component bag including the PCBs (bag1) - start with this one.

Read/follow the instructions in this order:

1 - USB Power supply
2 - Nixie PCB assembly
3 - Clock PCB assembly
4 - PCB assembly - Nixies
5 - Case assembly instructions
