UK USB power supply for Batch2 PCBs

First remove the original connector:

With the terminals closest to the bench, tin the 2 outer terminals of the USB plug:

Strip the outer insulation of the PSU cable back about 20mm then strip and tin the wire ends. Solder them as shown to the USB plug.

NOTE if your supply has GREEN and BLACK wires, connect the GREEN wire in place of RED and BLACK in place of GREEN.

Finally use the 2 black plastic housing pieces to finish the plug assembly.

Apparently some (e.g. at least mine) batch 3 PCBs require the power cable to be directly wired to the motherboard. This would require feeding it through the end-cap & providing some form of knot in the cable to prevent the power cable being pulled & damaging the motherboard.

The right-hand end cap has a groove machined for the cable to fit. All PCBs since 2016 have been directly soldered as the cable can be hidden better than the original USB plug sticking out of the side..
