Extending range of GPS transmission

Post by fdastoor »

Can someone help with this. I think Skyrider had a suggestion. But I would like more details. I am not sure where he soldered the insulated copper wire.

Hello,
this is related to this image: On the upper right corner, this is the location where , instead of soldering the "piece of wire" that will connect the 433module to the PCB, you will solder the antenna (17,3 cm of wire)...

What range do you need?. They work OK here for 20-30 feet including through 2-3 foot thick stone walls. I would avoid increasing it too much as it may increase the chance if causing interference with other equipment using the unlicensed 433mhz band.

Tony,

I am going to try the method suggested by Skyraider using the 0.5mm insulated copper and see what happens. 30 feet would be the absolute minimum requirement for me.

Thank you for replying. will let you know my progress. But, as you know things move at a rather slow pace at my end.
